Methimazole

Common medication prescribed by veterinarians for feline hyperthyroidism.

This medication requires a prescription.

Methimazole should not be used in cats with:

Hypersensitivity to methimazole, carbimazole, or the excipient, polyethylene glycol.
Coagulopathies or hematologic disorders, such as anemia, neutropenia, lymphopenia, or thrombocytopenia.
Primary liver disease or renal failure.
Pre-existing autoimmune diseases.
